Cameron Jackson, a former division one college athlete and young, black entrepreneur is the CEO of Millennial Park. This is a restaurant and entertainment center in Mid City Baton Rouge, LA made out of industrial shipping containers.
Raised in Houston, TX, Jackson saw food trucks in open parks where hundreds gathered daily to socialize and eat. Previous trips to Jamaica sparked Jackson's interest to develop a restaurant and open-air dining space in a unique way.
"I felt like there was more opportunity in Baton Rouge [than Houston]. Why not go back to the city that I was born in?" said Jackson.
Jackson acquired land on Florida Blvd. from his grandfather who previously owned a barbershop there. Jackson went on to develop Louisiana's first outdoor entertainment and shipping container park.
"It is more eco-friendly than the food truck option," said Jackson. "I want to have everything here so there is something for everyone."
He does his research on every shipping container to confirm no harmful chemicals or supplies were transported in them previously. All containers are sterilized before being delivered to Millennial Park for use. Jive Turkey opened in late June, after just 10 months of development and more spots are coming very soon.
Jackson's vision of transforming undeveloped land in Louisiana has turned into something no one has ever seen before. He has transformed Baton Rouge into a family-oriented and friendly place to gather and enjoy the environment, along with some outstanding food
